A2P messaging has its own rules around sender registration and compliance that general SMS providers often get wrong. Here is what to look for.
Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging — OTPs, transactional alerts, marketing campaigns — runs under stricter rules than person-to-person SMS. A provider built for general SMS traffic does not automatically handle A2P compliance correctly, and getting it wrong means messages that silently never arrive.
6X A2P Messaging is built specifically for OTP, transactional alerts, and marketing campaigns, with sender ID registration and compliance handled as a first-class part of the product, not bolted on to general SMS infrastructure.

Ask them directly what happens if you send unregistered A2P traffic to a country that requires sender ID registration. A provider that genuinely handles this will explain the specific registration process and realistic timeline; one that doesn't will either dodge the question or claim "it just works everywhere," which is rarely true and often means your messages are being silently filtered by carriers rather than actually delivered.
For OTP specifically, ask about real-world delivery speed under load, not a best-case number from a slide deck — a verification flow that works in a demo but adds 90 seconds of delay during a real traffic spike is a genuine product failure, not a minor inconvenience.
