Most "AI receptionist" tools are a script with a text-to-speech voice bolted on. Here is what actually makes an AI call assistant useful.
A lot of "AI call answering" products are really just a fixed decision tree with a synthetic voice reading pre-written lines. That works for the simplest cases and falls apart the moment a real caller asks something unexpected.
6X AI Call Assistant answers from your own knowledge base, logs full transcripts of every call, and can call back on your behalf — running directly on your existing 6X phone number, with a real schedule gate you control.

Call the assistant yourself and ask something slightly off-script — not "what are your hours" (which any decision tree handles), but a real, specific question a genuine customer might ask that requires understanding context, not just matching a keyword. A knowledge-base-driven assistant handles this correctly; a scripted one either gives a wrong answer confidently or falls back to a generic "let me transfer you" for everything.
Also worth checking: can you review the transcript of that exact test call afterward, and does the assistant's answer match what's actually true about your business, not a plausible-sounding guess? If the answer to either is no, the "AI" is doing less than it appears to.
