Adding the chat widget to your website
How to install the 6X live chat widget on any website in under 2 minutes.
Adding the chat widget to your website
The 6X Live Chat widget lets customers start a chat — or a call — with your business directly from your website. It works on any website — WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, custom HTML, or any platform that allows you to add a script tag.
Steps
- Log into your business dashboard at app.6xcom.com/dashboard.
- Go to Setup → Visitor Links.
- Copy your widget script code.
- Paste it before the closing
</body>tag on your website. - The chat bubble appears immediately on your site.
WordPress installation
- In your WordPress admin, go to Appearance → Theme Editor or use a plugin like "Insert Headers and Footers" — or use the 6X Connect plugin instead of a manual script tag.
- Paste the widget script into the footer section.
- Save and visit your site — the chat bubble will appear in the bottom right corner.
Widget appearance
- The widget uses your brand color set in Dashboard → Settings.
- You can set a custom greeting message.
- The widget shows your business name and logo automatically.
Does this let visitors call me too, not just chat?
Yes — the same widget can show a call button alongside chat (toggle each on/off when generating your script code). Visitor calls are real two-way voice calls over the browser, delivered to whichever agent is currently reachable (see How Incoming Calls Work) — free to receive, regardless of your wallet balance. Your agents can also use the same interfaces (Business Phone or the widget's own Dialer tab) to call real phone numbers out, billed from your wallet at retail rates. Receiving visitor calls and making outbound PSTN calls are independent — you don't need any wallet balance to keep accepting visitor calls, only to dial out to a real number.
