6X Route Inspector — Independent Route Auditing

Independently test a voice or SMS route from your own switch, without ever telling 6X who your vendor is.

What Route Inspector Is

6X Route Inspector is a separate, standalone product from your Wholesale account — you don't need to be a 6X wholesale customer to use it. You connect your own switch (voice) or your own SMSC (SMS) to Route Inspector purely for testing. Your real traffic keeps flowing through whichever vendor you already buy from — 6X never needs to know who that vendor is.

How this is different from the Route Test tool in your Wholesale Portal

The Route Test tool places a real call using your 6X wholesale account's own routing — it verifies that 6X's own switch reaches a destination correctly. Route Inspector does the opposite: 6X places a test call or message into your switch, so you can independently audit a route you're buying from any other vendor, with 6X acting purely as the test originator.

What It Detects

  • FAS (False Answer Supervision) — a vendor signaling "answered" and starting the billing clock before a human genuinely picks up.
  • CLI integrity — whether your caller ID survives the route unaltered, or is rewritten, stripped, or blocked in transit.
  • Real SIP response codes, post-dial delay, and MOS voice-quality scoring for voice tests.
  • Delivery receipts and sender-ID integrity for SMS tests.

These combine into a single 0-100 route score with a status of Healthy, Suspicious, or High Risk.

Getting Started

  1. Register a free account at routeinspector.6xcom.com — instant 30-day free trial, no credit card, no approval wait.
  2. Log in at app.6xcom.com/route-inspector/login and open Connect Your Switch.
  3. For voice: point an inbound trunk on your own switch at the SIP credentials shown there, and route it through the vendor connection you want to audit.
  4. For SMS: submit your own SMSC's host/port/system_id/password — Route Inspector binds into your SMSC as a client to submit test messages through your route.
  5. Run a test from your dashboard and review the score and report — every test produces a shareable link, usable as evidence with your vendor or as proof of a clean route for your own customers. Optionally label which vendor you're testing so results build a track record per vendor over time.
💡 Tip: A report link works whether the result is good or bad — use it to advertise a verified clean route to your own customers, or as concrete evidence when raising a problem with your vendor.

Testing FAS Without a Destination Number

The FAS Probe test mode dials a number a national regulator has officially reserved for fictional/drama use (for example, numbers in the UK's Ofcom-reserved 07700 900000-900999 range, or the NANP's 555-0100 to 555-0199 block) — a number that should never legitimately answer. If your route falsely signals ANSWER anyway, that's a real False Answer Supervision finding, verified purely from your own leg with no destination number needed on your end or ours. This mode can't verify Caller ID (that genuinely needs a real receiving destination to observe what arrived), but it works instantly for any country, with nothing to provision first.

Recurring Monitoring & Alerts

Instead of a single one-off test, schedule a route to retest itself automatically — daily or weekly. If a previously-healthy route degrades, you get an automatic alert (both a webhook and an email) instead of finding out from a customer complaint. Each schedule's history page also shows an aggregate rollup: average score, ASR (connect rate), FAS rate, and CLI pass rate across every run.

Multi-Route (Batch) Testing

Run a test against several destinations at once instead of one at a time — voice tests support selecting multiple countries in a single submission, and SMS tests support up to 5 destinations per batch. Batched tests are tagged together so results can be compared side by side.

Webhooks

Subscribe to real-time, HMAC-signed events for completed voice tests, completed SMS tests, and monitoring-schedule degradation — push results straight into your own systems instead of checking a dashboard.

Deeper Diagnostics

  • SIP trace analysis — a packet-level view of 6X's own leg of the call (between 6X and your switch), showing the real signaling flow and negotiated codec.
  • Conversational test — the test call actually asks the far end to speak, rather than passively recording silence, for a stronger human-vs-machine signal.
  • Listen to the recording — every voice test's audio is available directly from the report page.
  • AI-assisted summary — a plain-English explanation of what happened and why, useful for a non-technical stakeholder reading a report.
  • Audio quality signal — beyond simple presence/absence, reports flag when a call's audio looks choppy or intermittent (a high silence ratio during an otherwise-connected call).

Billing Verification

Works for both voice and SMS. Paste in what your vendor's own invoice or CDR claimed for a completed call or message — duration and/or cost — and Route Inspector compares it against what it independently measured. This catches real over-billing, and the classic case of being billed for a call that never actually connected or a message that was never delivered (the same False Answer Supervision pattern this tool is built to detect, now provable against a real invoice). You can also paste in several invoice lines at once for a bulk comparison — each row is matched to the closest real test by destination number and time.

Downloading a Report

Every report has a one-click PDF download alongside the live share link — useful when an email attachment works better than a link for a vendor dispute.
