Every school gets one free office extension and a ring group automatically at signup — no setup needed. This is a real phone number parents can call for free (over the internet, not a traditional phone line) directly from your portal's floating chat/call button.

Setting up a softphone

From Branding → My Office Number, scan the QR code with any staff member's phone to open 6X's free office phone app already logged in — no typing an extension or password. It works in any browser, no app install required.

Call Queue — never miss a call when the line is busy

From Call Queue, create a dedicated queue extension that holds callers with music and periodic position updates instead of letting a busy line just fail. Give this number to a parent as your overflow line, or — better — route an IVR option into it so callers reach it automatically.

IVR Menus — "press 1 for admissions..."

From IVR Menus, build a phone tree: write a greeting (read aloud automatically by text-to-speech), then add up to several digit options — each one rings an extension, rings your call queue, opens another IVR menu, goes to voicemail, or hangs up. Once created, point your main office number at it so every caller hears your menu first.

If your school has its own separate website outside 6X School, copy the embed snippet from Branding and paste it onto your site — it adds the exact same floating chat-and-call button your 6X School portal pages already show, fully optional.
